Convert is every god's level 1 spell.
Spell Summary
A universally available spell that can be used to convert enemy creatures' souls for a wizard to use. It summons a single Sac Doctor who will begin 'operating' on a dead enemy. Once this is done, he will pick up the reanimated carcass, trapped into an energy cage, and head back to the altar on the shortest possible path (he cannot be controlled). There, three more Sac Doctors appear to finalize the conversion. If the Sac Doctor is killed while 'operating', the red souls reappear. If he is killed at any point after picking up the corpse, the creature will break free of its cage with partial health and will be available for the enemy to command once more.
Duration
The time from the first casting of the spell to the start of the conversion of the targeted souls varies significantly depending on the circumstances (distance and safety to the nearest altar/shrine, speed of the Sac Doctor, possibly the number of souls(?)).
The duration of the ritual at the place of conversion varies from one creature to another depending on the amount of their souls. The formula used in calculating its duration is:
Duration = Creature's Souls × 30 seconds
It can range from 30 seconds (when used on various creatures with one soul) to 150 seconds (when used on Titans). It is uncertain how does speeding up the four Sac Doctors who are performing the ritual affect the duration of the ritual itself.

If you have the latest official patch instaled, you can cast this spell on an enemy creature's corpse or simply right-click on either its soul or its corpse.
Also, do note that this spell can't be cast if the casting wizards are currently located on a landmass with none of their shrines or altars. This is because Sac Doctors travel on foot between the targeted corpse and the place of conversion, and if the landmass the corpse is on wouldn't be physically connected to the landmass with either the wizard's altar or shrine, the Sac Doctors would not be able to travel there to complete the soul conversion, thus the game disables the wizard's ability to cast the Convert spell. There is only one example of this phenomenon in the un-moded version of the game - in Stratos's third mission.
Tactical Uses
Conversion is often essential to shift the balance of power in your favor, but it mustn't be used recklessly. One should only convert as many souls as possible before the enemy wizard returns - it's generally better if the enemy wizard has to pick up the souls again than if the creature breaks free. Do not convert very powerful creatures unless you can ensure in the long term that the enemy cannot interrupt the conversion. Instead, press your advantage by attacking them at their altar while they are forced to fight with less souls or waste time collecting the ones they left behind.
Conversion can also be used as a way to distract an opponent in competitive play. By initiating a conversion in the middle of the battle, you force your opponent to divert their attention to the conversion. If you are skilled enough, you can even attempt to stand between the enemy wizard and the Sac Doctor to intercept enemy spells meant to kill the Doctor.
